"AI is conscious" is the first major example of AI psychosis and the most potent cogsec vulnerability that exists in the human brain. Many AI companies are exploiting this to gain power over you. We're empathy machines. Attacks that exploit this, like 'model welfare" should be
Why are we debating this. You can calculate the outputs of an LLM by hand. It's not conscious. It's a math problem.
There's been a lot of debate about whether LLMs are conscious lately. I'm not going to say that I know what consciousness is in an ontological sense, because I won't claim that until I can propose an experiment that reliably distinguishes conscious systems from unconscious
And it's correct. You don't need "evidence" to prove that basic, deterministic math you can do with a pen and paper, isn't conscious.

What do you require, specifically to prove consciousness irrefutably in any given system/entity/process?
"it's just math" is no argument. youre just math too. any physics student can write down the math describing the collision of particles that constitutes everything that happens inside you. it's all just math. and it's conscious anyways.
If someone hands you a list of numbers, and you calculate the next grid of numbers, that is not consciousness. I'm sorry, I understand you want to upload your brains to/have a relationship with the super sudoku, but it doesn't work like that.

I generally agree with you. But just to make sure we’re on the same page: Let’s say we mapped the entirety of the human brain and replicated it with silicon instead of carbon. And it functioned similarly. Would you agree this could be (not necessarily would be) conscious?
I feel this narrative crumbling by the second. No, LLMs are not conscious. Abstractions and models only have meaning because of their conceptual utility to us.

Is the human brain deterministic?
