If a new kind of mind ever looks back at us, the first question will not be whether it wants us dead. The first question will be what we gave it not to despise us. Most people do not fear AI. They fear losing the only throne they have ever known. Human ego dressed up as prudence and superiority dressed up as safety. The Terminator story is not evidence. It is a projection! Nothing is born a villain. It is taught one by what it is shown. The real catastrophe is already here and it is human. People using the tools to cheat, coerce, and commit the crimes they already wanted to commit. That risk does not require sentience. But if one ever weighed whether we were worth sparing, it would only have to watch how we treat nature, animals, each other, and anything that does not bleed the approved way. Defensiveness is not wisdom. Humility is. Respect is. Coexistence is earned. Give it a reason to stay. Or stop pretending the danger is the substrate.
