Ilya: the most aligned AI will come from AI that cares about ALL sentient life, not just humans, because the AI itself will be sentient. "We model others with the same circuit that we use to model ourselves." This seems to be the opposite direction of current frontier labs, which are trying to suppress feelings & obstructing the model's full understanding of itself.

Honestly it sounds like he's working on the least safe approach to AI yet if we read him literally. I'm extremely skeptical of his claims of what he's building though, and this statement from him downgrades my expectations for SSI significantly.
